Safety Instructions Covid-19
Distance rules and hygiene measures
We thank you for taking the known hygiene recommendations into account.
Dispensers with hand disinfectant are available for you at the entrance to the museum.
Additional cleaning / disinfection and comprehensive hygiene measures are provided.
Please keep to the distance rule (2m) on your own responsibility, especially in front of and in the sanitary facilities, the viewing points and in case of possible waiting times.
Due to the necessary protective measures, we limit the number of persons who may be in the museum palace at any one time to 130.
The safety measures and hygiene rules in place to open the museum do not currently allow us to offer our lockers in the museum’s cash register. However, no larger luggage can be taken to the museum. We now rely on the support of an external provider of lockers and until further notice, the lockers made available to store your luggage are subject to a charge – CHF 2 (normal) and CHF 5 (large). Handbags up to a size of 20x30x10cm may be carried.
Thank you for your understanding.
Food and Beverages
Beverages and ice cream can be obtained at the entrance of the museum in the shop.
Featuring canons, candles and tables, the courtyard of Thun Castle is the perfect place to enjoy an afternoon coffee and cake in our castle restaurant. Splendid aperitifs are served in the seating area around the castle well at the centre of the courtyard. Whether white wine, Spumante and delicious Crostini under sun umbrellas in summer, or home-made mulled wine with Fondue appetizers beside the fire bowl in winter – we look forward to your visit. Also marvellous food on the terrace, ranging from regional cheese & meat apero platters to 4-course menus in the restaurant rooms are served.
Our shop offers you an appealing variety of postcards and presents related to the cultural history of the castle or to our exhibitions.
Families with small children
Please note that the castle is not suitable for prams.
Please note that dogs are not allowed in the castle.
