Thun Castle presents annually changing special exhibitions that offer insights into selected historical, cultural and social topics. A new special exhibition usually opens in spring. In addition, selected topics and exhibitions are occasionally integrated into the permanent exhibition in the keep. Preserved treasures – insights into the ceramics collection of the Thun Castle Foundation
29 March 2024 – 17 March 2025
The special exhibition, which opened in March 2024, provided insights into the diverse collection of ceramics, designs and working materials from the Heimberg and Steffisburg ceramics workshops in the Schloss Thun Foundation’s collection. Among other things, works from ‘Thuner Majolika’ were presented, as well as selected objects by Friedrich Ernst Frank, Cäsar and Hans Schmalz and from the Desa art pottery workshop.

Exhibition tour: Cancel Culture – From Yesterday to Tomorrow
5 May – 31 October 2024
In collaboration with swissceramics – Swiss Ceramics Association, Thun Castle presented an exhibition trail on contemporary Swiss ceramic art in the permanent exhibition in the keep. Works by nationally renowned ceramic artists and selected objects by students from the three Swiss ceramic art schools were displayed at selected locations.
Under the theme ‘Cancel Culture – From Yesterday to Tomorrow’, the exhibition was the result of a national competition and focused on questions of memory culture.

Red and white are our colours – 125 years of FC Thun

To mark the 125th anniversary of Thun Football Club, Thun Castle hosted a special exhibition entitled ‘Rot-Wyss si üi Farbe – 125 Years of FC Thun’. It presented the club’s eventful history from its beginnings on the Allmend to its international successes, bringing memorable moments to life through images, sound and objects.
