Law in transition: courts and judges in the history of Thun
June 8, 2025 – March 2026

Justice, power and fate – Thun in court
From blood court to district court: the exhibition at Thun Castle tells the eventful history of the town’s justice system – from ancient rights, conflicts with Bern and the power over life and death to the establishment of a modern judicial system in the 19th century. In cooperation with the Burgerarchiv Thun, the museum uses original sources and archival documents to visualise real cases and give a face to the fates and voices of those once forgotten.
