The Foundation
The non-profit Thun Castle Foundation runs the museum castle — as a place of history, education and encounter.

In 1994 the Schlossmuseum Thun association, the canton of Bern and the municipality of Thun established the Schlossmuseum Thun Foundation with endowment capital of 325,000 francs. In the following years, private individuals increased the capital by a further 500,000 francs. In September 2013 the foundation gave itself the name “Thun Castle Foundation – the museum castle”.
The purpose of the foundation is to keep Thun Castle open to interested visitors, to hold events, and to preserve, operate and further develop the museum in the public interest, as well as to present the diversity of regional, town and castle history.
