Thun Castle presents changing temporary exhibitions each year on historical, cultural and social themes – usually from spring onwards. This page gives an overview of past exhibitions going back to 2023.

Preserved Treasures – Insights into the ceramics collection of the Thun Castle Foundation

29 March 2024 – 17 March 2025

Insights into the varied holdings of ceramics, designs and working materials from the Heimberg and Steffisburg workshops in the collection of the Thun Castle Foundation – including works of the “Thun majolica” as well as objects by Friedrich Ernst Frank, Cäsar and Hans Schmalz and from the Desa art pottery.

Exhibition trail: Cancel Culture – From Yesterday to Tomorrow

5 May – 31 October 2024

In collaboration with swissceramics – the Swiss ceramics association: an exhibition trail on contemporary Swiss ceramic art within the permanent exhibition in the keep. It showed works by ceramic artists of national importance as well as objects by students from the three Swiss ceramics schools. Born of a national competition, the trail put questions of remembrance culture in the spotlight.

Every year Thun Castle shows a new exhibition. The exhibitions are about history, culture or society. A new exhibition usually begins in spring. Here you will find the exhibitions since 2023.

  • Preserved Treasures (29 March 2024 – 17 March 2025): ceramics from the collection of the Thun Castle Foundation.
  • Cancel Culture – From Yesterday to Tomorrow (5 May – 31 October 2024): contemporary Swiss ceramic art, together with swissceramics.
  • Rot-Wyss si üsi Farbe (1 April 2023 – 7 January 2024): 125 years of FC Thun, with photos, sound recordings and objects.
