Two ways up to the castle – choose your arrival below:
From the station or the old town, walk to the Old-town access – Parking City Ost, take the lift up to the Schlossberg and the last few steps to the castle – about 10 minutes, step-free. For the sporty option, straight up the church stairs (Kirchtreppe).

By train
10 minutes on foot
From Thun station the path leads up through the Obere Hauptgasse to the castle — about 10 minutes’ walk.
By car
Schlossberg car park
Drive straight to the Schlossberg car park (Burgstrasse 17). A lift and short walk take you into the old town and to the castle.
On foot & by boat
In the heart of the old town
From the BLS boat landing in Thun, stroll through the old town. You can take the stairs up to the Schlossberg or ride the lift in comfort. The Schlossberg is part of the historic town walk.
Coaches & groups
Arriving by coach
For dropping off and picking up guests, the Schlossbergplatz directly below the castle and the boat landing (Schiffländte) are the best options. Four further sites in and around Thun are available for parking. Information provided by the City of Thun — subject to change.

- By boat: the boat landing is nearby. From there you walk through the old town.
