Visit — Rainy day
When it rains: head for the castle
Lake Thun has disappeared into the clouds, the hike is off, and the children still want to do something. At Thun Castle the visit leads through five floors and 800 years of history — all under one roof. And the games for children are simply available at the ticket office.
In short: No booking, no planning. The detective game and the search hunt are available at the ticket office and included in the admission — just come by.

Good to know on a rainy day
- Under one roof: The visit leads through five floors inside the keep — from the Knights’ Hall up to the tower rooms. Only the castle courtyard is open to the sky, and it takes a moment to cross.
- How long: Allow one and a half to two hours for the visit together with one of the games.
- Getting here: About ten minutes on foot from Thun station, through the Obere Hauptgasse and up the stairs to the Schlossberg. Directions & location
- Stairs: The castle is reached by stairs, and there are stairs inside. What this means for strollers and for visitors with reduced mobility is explained under Accessible visit.
- Afterwards: Restaurants are a few minutes away in the old town, just below the Schlossberg.
