What it is about

In 2026 the European Heritage Days across Switzerland are dedicated to the theme “At Risk?”
asking what threatens our cultural heritage and how we can protect it. One of the most creative answers
has come from young people in Germany: in the educational project
“Young Climate Action for World Heritage” run by the Institute Heritage Studies (Berlin)
together with the German Commission for UNESCO and funded by the German Federal Environmental Foundation (DBU),
young people at six World Heritage sites developed their own formats on the climate crisis –
a murder-mystery dinner, an art exhibition and an escape game.

Project leader Claudia Grünberg is travelling from Berlin to Thun especially for this day.
She presents the formats that were created, shares the most important lessons learned – and shows how
young people here too can contribute actively to World Heritage and climate protection.

The workshop in between invites you to join in: what is “at risk” here – and what ideas would we have ourselves?

Who is it for? For everyone with an interest – and explicitly for young people,
families and teachers. No prior knowledge is required. Teachers will find inspiration for their own projects
on cultural heritage and sustainability.
